The first question we're always asked about Cristalina Cove Estates: Is it safe in that portion of the country?

The answer is a resounding YES! (1980s narco violence is a distant memory.) And in particular, the towns of Guatapé and San Rafael are extraordinarily safe. As is any city with 2.5 million inhabitants, you'll want to make intelligent decisions when you are out and about in nearby Medellin. But, again, that's true of New York City, Chicago, Miami, and Los Angeles, too.
Yes, it's a popular vacation home and expat destination for Americans.
These past few years, Colombia has been making virtually every top travel destination and international living list. And with good reason. The living costs here are extraordinarily low for the quality of life available. Colombia's healthcare system is better than we have in the USA--and at a fraction of the cost. The people here are as friendly and welcoming as any you'll find anywhere in the world. And the weather in the Antioquia region (where Guatapé and San Rafael are located) is known as the "Land of Eternal Spring". As such, the climate here is, well, pretty much perfect.
